STUDY PURPOSE Analyze data for crashes in the MPO
Provide support for projects where safety improvements are crucial. Identify potential actions, including facility improvements and education, to improve traffic safety

FAST Act overall fatality rate (based on VMT) serious injury count
The FAST Act requires the MPOs to either adopt the state’s highway safety performance measures (as published in the 2016 TSAP), or, to craft their own highway safety performance measures. There are five measures: overall fatality rate (based on VMT) serious injury count overall fatality count serious injury rate (based on VMT) non-motorized fatal/serious injury count
