PowerPlay Web Series 7 Version 3
Data Analysis PowerPlay Web Series 7 Version 3 SC, VCR Title (Standard Classroom) = Module Title Title (Virtual Classroom) = Topic Title The current module/topic title should be displayed in red, and the other module/topic titles are in gray. Standard Classroom This slide replaces the roadmap slide, and also serves as the title slide for each module (Exceptions: For the Introduction and Appendix Modules: see Slide 1 of this template). If there are too many module titles to fit on one slide, then more than one slide can be used. Virtual Classroom Recording Recommended VC Script: Let’s take a look at <state the current topic>.
2
Objectives In this module, we will: compare multiple measures
use special categories show values as percentages differentiate between 3D bar and pie displays create and use calculations
3
Compare Multiple Measures
Display multiple measures to examine different aspects of your business. Show multiple measures in either the rows or the columns.
4
Hide Measures Use Hide/Show or Hide Selection to hide one or more measures on a report. Hide/Show
5
Demo 1 Change Measures and Display Multiple Measures SC, VCR
The bullet point in this slide should match the demo title - do not include the demo number. Use a separate slide for each demo. Standard Classroom Demo numbering will follow the format of Demo X-Y, as per the Standards. Virtual Classroom Recording Demo numbering is as shown in slide. Recommended VC Script: Let’s move into <product name> and take a look at <demo topic>! At the end of the demonstration say: This concludes our demo.
6
Special Categories Special categories are groups of “special” data.
7
3D Bar - Show Multivariable Relationships
Focus on high and low values for large quantities of data. High Low
8
Show Values as Percentages
Display the values in your report as a percentage of totals.
9
Pie Display - Show Relationship Between Parts
Use a pie display to show how much each section contributes to the whole.
10
Demo 2 Use Special Categories SC, VCR
The bullet point in this slide should match the demo title - do not include the demo number. Use a separate slide for each demo. Standard Classroom Demo numbering will follow the format of Demo X-Y, as per the Standards. Virtual Classroom Recording Demo numbering is as shown in slide. Recommended VC Script: Let’s move into <product name> and take a look at <demo topic>! At the end of the demonstration say: This concludes our demo.
11
Demo 3 Show Values as Percentages and Filter Data SC, VCR
The bullet point in this slide should match the demo title - do not include the demo number. Use a separate slide for each demo. Standard Classroom Demo numbering will follow the format of Demo X-Y, as per the Standards. Virtual Classroom Recording Demo numbering is as shown in slide. Recommended VC Script: Let’s move into <product name> and take a look at <demo topic>! At the end of the demonstration say: This concludes our demo.
12
Work With Calculations
Calculations are used to examine figures in a report that are not available in a cube. Create calculations to show information that cannot be easily seen using the current data available. Use available data in your report to create your calculated data. Variance = 2006 Q Q1 Gross Profit = Revenue - Cost Cumulative Sales = Previous Sales + Current Sales
13
Create Calculations Calculation button
14
Time-based Calculations
Use time-based calculations to project future data values.
15
Demo 4 Create a Forecast Calculation SC, VCR
The bullet point in this slide should match the demo title - do not include the demo number. Use a separate slide for each demo. Standard Classroom Demo numbering will follow the format of Demo X-Y, as per the Standards. Virtual Classroom Recording Demo numbering is as shown in slide. Recommended VC Script: Let’s move into <product name> and take a look at <demo topic>! At the end of the demonstration say: This concludes our demo.

Summary In this module, we have: compared multiple measures
used special categories shown values as percentages differentiated between 3D bar and pie displays created and used calculations

Workshop 1 View Multiple Measures, and Create a Calculation SC, VCR
Standard Classroom Workshop numbering will follow the format of Workshop X-Y, as per the Standards. The bullet point in this slide should match the workshop title - do not include the workshop number. Use a separate slide for each workshop. Virtual Classroom Recording (optional) Workshop scripts may be provided by the presenter. Recommended VC Script: To provide you with the opportunity to practice the material covered in the module, we have designed a workshop for you. <Describe where exercises are located, and other details that may be important>. Field Recording: Workshops associated with this module are available on the Learning Network by clicking the self-study icon for this recording. Customer Recording: Workshops associated with this module can be installed from the Setup screen.

Workshop 2 Filter Data, Drill Down, and Use a Special Category SC, VCR
Standard Classroom Workshop numbering will follow the format of Workshop X-Y, as per the Standards. The bullet point in this slide should match the workshop title - do not include the workshop number. Use a separate slide for each workshop. Virtual Classroom Recording (optional) Workshop scripts may be provided by the presenter. What are special categories and why do you need them?
Question What are special categories and why do you need them? VCR, SC Only show one question per slide. Virtual Classroom Recording Recommended VC Script: A question will now appear. When you have responded, the recording will resume automatically! <Read the question aloud.> Example of a Question and Answer Yes/No Example: Q. In Upfront, security can be applied to a NewsItem. A. Yes.

What are special categories and why do you need them?
Answer What are special categories and why do you need them? Special categories are subsets of your data. They allow you to view specific categories that your administrator has grouped together. There are two types of special categories, those created by the administrator, and those created by default for all time dimensions (also called Relative Time categories). VCR, SC Text boxes may be made larger to accommodate more text, however, the boxes should be centered in the body area of the slide, and alignment should be maintained as above. Standard Classroom Numbered bullets can be changed to regular bullets for Standard Classroom. List only correct answers, not other possible answers, as for VC. Virtual Classroom Recording Highlight the correct answer, using annotation. Recommended VC Script: The correct answer is <state correct answer and clearly explain why it is correct>. (Do not read all of the answers.)

Question What information can you focus on if you use a 3D bar display to compare two dimensions against the same measure? VCR, SC Only show one question per slide. Virtual Classroom Recording Recommended VC Script: A question will now appear. When you have responded, the recording will resume automatically! <Read the question aloud.> Example of a Question and Answer Yes/No Example: Q. In Upfront, security can be applied to a NewsItem. A. Yes.

Answer What information can you focus on if you use a 3D bar display to compare two dimensions against the same measure? A 3D bar display helps you focus on high and low values in a measure, and identify irregularities that require further investigation.
