Hens and Ducks
A hen has short wings which it doesn’t use because it has a heavy body and lives on the ground. When it flies, it is clumsy and can only travel short distances. Its feet are sharp and scratch the ground to find seeds and worms. It also has a short beak for eating. A hen nests on the ground and can lay nearly 300 eggs a year.
A duck has webbed feet so it can swim easily. It has a long, flat beak which it uses to find food like small fish. It has strong wings and it can fly far. It nests in grass near water. Ducks migrate long distances and they lay 5 to 12 eggs twice a year.
