Duck Race Saturday 10th June Ducks are still for sale for the school’s duck race on Saturday 10th June. £1 per duck for children to decorate and enter into the race. Start of the summer term Children return to school on Monday 5th June. Thank you to all of the parents and children who bought items in to school to help us with our scarecrow. It’s been a creative week in year 3. We all worked very hard to create our scarecrows designs. We have made a class scarecrow with an emoji face which the children have found very funny and we have made our tree design. All of the children have contributed and made their own decorations for the tree. In Maths this week we have continued to look at fractions and have now started to look at fractions of amounts where the numerator is greater than one. The children are confident at finding one part but some are still finding the second step a little tricky. Therefore, we would like the children to practice with the questions attached. On Thursday, we were very lucky to have a karate taster session. We all really enjoyed the session. We practiced punching and kicking the pad and participated in a fitness circuit as part of this. On Friday the children participated in a drumming performance to demonstrate their African drumming skills. Over this half term the children have been learning how to play the drums with ‘Upbeat’ music company. Have a wonderful half term break, Diolch yn fawr, Miss Viggers and Mrs Burmingham

2 Fractions of amounts 1 (numerator-parts of) -- (out of) 5 (denominator-total parts) Step 1: work out how many times the denominator goes into the given number. Step 2: multiply this answer by the numerator to get the answer. Example: 3/5 of 20 = There are 4 5s in 20 (20  5 = 4) 2. 4x3=12 3/6 of 18 4/5 of 15 2/6 of 12 2/3 of 15 5/8 of 16 4/9 of 27 4/5 of 25 7/10 of 30 6/7 of 14 3/5 of 30
