3. I. The Definition of a Pure Heart
A. Heart
The heart is the seat of our emotions (Proverbs 3:5-6), intellect (Mark 2:8), and will (Daniel 1:8).
B. Pure
Psalm 57:7 “My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.”
QUESTION: Someone struggling with having a pure heart will often display what type of attitudes?

A. God examines the heart. B. Only God changes the heart. C. Christians should guard their heart. Proverbs 4:23 “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” QUESTION: What are some practical ways a Christian can guard his heart?

5. III. The Destination of a Pure Heart
A. We can see God in creation. Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.” B. We can see God in our circumstances. Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” C. We can see God in His Word. John 5:39 “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” QUESTION: What may cause a Christian to stray from a close relationship with the Lord? How can I stay close and maintain a pure heart?
