Single Sign On (SSO) for the Parent Portal
What is Single Sign On? Single Sign On (SSO) is a system that allows parents to use one username and password to access all of their child’s information, grades, attendance, and assessment documents such as report cards, NYS assessment reports, and NWEA student reports. This update to the Parent Portal was implemented this past August and a letter introducing SSO was included in the Back to School packet mailed home this summer. What benefits does it have? Access to multiple children in the same family with one login. Personalized account for each parent/guardian (i.e., their own username & password). Ability for parents/guardians to retrieve their own username and password information. Students can be linked to more than one account (i.e., Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, etc.).

‘Going Green’ with the Parent Portal
The Parent Portal allows Island Park Schools to ‘go green,’ like most school districts. Student documents such as report cards (grades PK-8), progress reports (grades 6-8), NYS assessment reports, and NWEA student reports will no longer be mailed home, unless requested. Access to these documents is through the Student Portfolio in the Parent Portal. It is IMPORTANT that you set up a SSO Parent Portal account, if you haven’t done so already. A Connect-Ed call will be made as new documents are uploaded to the Parent Portal. For example, during the evening on October 8th a Connect-Ed call was made to parents/guardians of students in grades 6-8 to notify them that the first progress report for the year was available in the Parent Portal. Access your child(ren)’s Student Portfolio in the Parent Portal to view each document once it is available. If you like, you can save the document to your own computer or you can print it.

SSO Parent Portal Letter
A SSO Parent Portal letter was sent home in your child’s Back to School packet in August. Letters for new students are sent home after they are enrolled in Island Park School. The letter contains your child’s Access ID and Access Password which you will use to link the child to your SSO account. Replacement letters can be requested at the main office of your child’s school and the letter will be mailed home. Student 1, grade 7 xxxxxx #####

Final Thoughts What if I don’t have a computer with internet access?
How do I get my child(ren)’s access ID and password? Contact the main office at your child(ren)’s school and your child(ren)’s SSO Parent Portal letter will be mailed home. FERPA* dictates that the letter cannot be given to your child(ren) to bring home. What if I don’t have a computer with internet access? You can access the Parent Portal via your Smart phone. You can use the computers available in the Island Park Library. You can write a letter to your child(ren)’s principal requesting that a hardcopy of all documents be mailed home. Who do I contact if I’m having trouble setting up my SSO account? Contact Paula DiLorenzo, Island Park Schools Data Analyst, via or phone. OR FERPA* - Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
