1. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL “CIRIL KOSMAČ”

2. Our school is located on a hill in Zeleni gaj (The Green Grove),
east of the town centre.

3. The school is named after the Slovenian writer
Ciril Kosmač. His novels are translated in more than
20 languages.
The school was founded in 1950 and it is proud of its rich history and
the accomplishments of its students and teachers.
In 1993 we became the first UNESCO school in Slovenia.

4. The logo of our school is a blue sailing boat.
The boat is shaped like a dolphin that proudly glides on the sea.
It is a symbol of life, tradition and respect for the nature.
On the boat there are three children working together. If we are united,
we can move a mountain.
The blue colour is a symbol of wisdom, peace and UNESCO.
The orange colour of the flag symbolizes the energy, the Sun and
the power to overcome the obstacles.

5. Our school is very beautiful inside
Our school is very beautiful inside. There are lovely paintings on the walls.

6. Outside there is an atrium where
we can play during the break.
Almost every classroom has got its own balcony.

7. We like our school. We often stay outside and play or talk after the lessons.
