2 Triangles Triangles are the most simple polygons .
There are three letter names for triangles. Triangles have three vertices . The prefix tri- in the word triangle means three.

3 Rectangles Rectangles have four vertices and angles.
A rectangle is a parallelogram. A rectangle has two lines of symmetry.

4 Squares Squares have four lines of symmetry.
A square has two parallel sides. It is a four sided shape.

5 Trapezoids A trapezoid has one pair of parallel sides.
A trapezoid has one line of symmetry. A trapezoid has four angles.

6 Quadrilaterals A quadrilateral is a polygon with four sides, angles, and vertices. A quadrilateral has eight possible names. Some of them have two pairs of parallel sides.

7 Hexagons A hexagon has six angles.
A hexagon has more than two lines of symmetry. A hexagon has one side that is parallel.
