4. Consolidate the students’ learning (5 minutes)
Objective:
Teacher refers to Student Handouts for revision and consolidates the students’ learning through Q&A.
Resources: PowerPoint(slide 4), Student Handouts
Rundown:
1. Teacher distributes Student Handouts and revises with students.
2. Teacher consolidates the students’ learning through Q&A.
Some exploratory questions:
Why do refugees leave their home country?
What happened in Syria?
Deprivation of which children’s rights do child refugees face?
How do international humanitarian NGOs help child refugees?

5. Take Action: Design a Poster for Child Refugee (25 minutes)
Time for design:15 mins
Design Objectives:
Enable audiences to understand any 1 challenge that child refugees face. (e.g. bombing threat/ drowning/ lost the learning opportunities/ separate with family)
Enhance audiences’ awareness of the Syria Refugee Crisis
Suggest at least 1 idea that audiences can do to help the Syrian child refugees
Use attractive design
Take Action: Design a Poster for Child Refugee (25 minutes)
Objective:
Students apply the knowledge learnt and design a poster to raise awareness of child refugees’ issues.
Students are encouraged to display the posters in the classroom or school notice boards during the World Refugee Day (June 20) to invoke other students’ interest on the issue.
Resources: PowerPoint(slide 5), A3 blank papers, colour pens, Student Handouts
Rundown:
1. Introduce the learning objective of this lesson.
Divide the class into groups of 4 – 6 students. Teacher distributes one A3 blank paper, colour pens and Student Handouts to each group.
2. Students design a poster with the aim to raise awareness of the various issues of child refugees. They may refer to the Student Handouts while drafting the design.
3. Encourage students to design a creative poster, while fulfilling the following objectives:
Enable audiences to understand any 1 challenge that child refugees face. (e.g. bombing threat/ drowning/ lost the learning opportunities/ separate with family)
Enhance audiences’ awareness of the Syria Refugee Crisis
Suggest at least 1 idea that audiences can do to help the Syrian child refugees
Use attractive design
Time for design: around 15 minutes
4. Group Sharing: Invite each group to present their poster design and share their messages.
5. Extended Learning:
Ask students to present their posters and then vote for the best poster design.
Teacher encourages students to display the best poster design in the classroom or school notice boards on World Refugee Day (June 20) to raise other students’ awareness of the issue.
Other Teaching Tips：
Alternatively, teacher can ask students to design a ‘wish card’ if faced by time constraint. Students can express their care and write their wishes on the ‘wish card’ which can be displayed on the notice board.
