Timber industry is important but has created deforestation = erosion and land slides. Tourism is the fastest growing economy in Nepal for access to the Himalayas. Quick tourism has damaged the environment due to a lack of infrastructure and westernized the culture to varying degrees. Cultural Traditions Nepal’s ethnic groups are a mix from India, Nepal and Tibet. Tibetan Sherpa are used in mountaineering. Bhutan remains ethnically isolated.
