2. About pet hamsters. Hamsters are mammals.
They belong to the rodent family
In the wild hamsters live in burrows in semi desert areas.

have 4 long sharp teeth.
gnaw to keep the teeth from being overgrown.
have cheek pouches (carry food inside).

Hamsters are nearsighted and colorblind.

5. Hamster habitats Hamster cages should be at least 75 by 40 by 40 cm.
A wire cage or aquarium or modular cage are good choices.

need fresh water daily from a drip feed bottle with a metal spout.
put food in the ceramic bowl
a complete mix : a variety of grains, nuts, vegetable flakes and corn in it.

7. Hamster Diet
eat fresh fruit and vegetables : apple, melon, peas and broccoli.
A treat: sunflower seed.
Chew sticks.
No chocolate or lettuce ( poisonous ).
