Assessment vs. Tests Assessments: many different procedures that are used to evaluate individuals in a variety of measures Observations, rating scales, classification, record, performance based Tests are include within assessments and yield specific measures

Ethical, Legal, and Professional Issues
American Counseling Association (ACA) and American Psychological Association (APA) have ethical codes and guidelines related to assessments. Professionals should choose tests that demonstrate reliability, validity, cross cultural fairness, and practicality Professionals completing tests should have adequate knowledge and training related to the test
