3 IMPORTS

4 METHODOLOGY This analysis has the goal to identify “winners” and “losers” in the competition in the Czech market. Parameters: imports in value for the years 2001/2003 Variables: the trend (% increase or decrease in value) between 2001 and 2003 the position (% import share) for each pre-selected country (27 + EU15 + Others)

5 A COMPETITION MATRIX HIGH GROWTH >AVERAGE Code 1 10 INCREASING 11
WINNERS LOW GROWTH < AVERAGE Code 0 00 MARGINALS 01 LOSERS SMALL SHARE <5% Code 0 LARGE SHARE >5% Code 1

6 YARNS AND FABRICS

7 COMMENTS ON IMPORTS OF YARNS AND FABRICS
Total imports have increased +19,24%, and show a high concentration: two countries make up 80% of total. The large majority of imports are from EU 15: 70,75%. This share, combined with a positive trend of “only” 17,24%, that is 2% less then the average, qualifies the EU15 as a LOSER. In fact the EU15 performance is not bad at all considering the dominant position. The generic cluster of “Others” keeps the second position in terms of share but its growth trend is negative (-2,33%): it qualifies as LOSER. China is ranked 6th (market share) with a relevant growth trend. Other good positions are those of Turkey and the Czech Republic
