St. Regis Parent Survey 2015-2016
It’s nearly impossible to manage what you cant measure – so in looking at these scores this is the measurement of the parents – “report card” For accreditation we need to do 3 surveys throughout the year. For the past 3 years we have used these exact survey questions and scale. This allows for tracking a trend. This survey was designed by myself, Colleen Moore and most importantly Ian Wild (a school dad that working in marketing and developing surveys). In addition, we wanted to make sure that the loudest voices were NOT the only voices being heard. The point of the survey was not to be a teacher evaluation.

Response Rate 249 parents responded to the survey school year * 118 parents responded to the survey school year 129 parents responded to the survey school year * Previously survey was conducted at the end of the school year, this year survey was conducted at the beginning of the school year asking families to rate last school year. In : 268 families s sent out – went to everyone who receives the enews In : 303 families s sent out – went to everyone who receives the enews In : 249 families – 504 s send out – last year school families 3:9 ratio = exceptional experience vs. bad – good has no relationship it is expected; having said that, people had a “good enough” experience to take the survey Have tracking data and show we take results seriously

Academics Satisfaction Level
Early Childhood (Preschool thru 1st) = 8.72 (72 responses) Elementary (2nd thru 5th) = 8.37 (115 responses) Academy (6th thru 8th) = 8.18 (109 responses) Confidence in child being prepared for high school = 8.31 (194 responses) Responses: Offer more “challenging curriculum” tailored to each needs of each child such as “advanced math in 5th and 6th grade.” “We have a large choice of schools in our area. Having top academics and a better facility are important in recruiting new families.” 5+ comments include math program needing improvement 2 responses for more individual attention Reason for asking open-ends is because top of mind responses are most related to decision making. 2 to 10 responses is still less than 10% of those responding. Don’t turn ship around
6
Facilities Satisfaction Level = 6.56 (202 responses) Responses:
1) Air Conditioning 2) Gym 3) Bathrooms AC – 14; Gym – 9; Bathrooms – 4 on this question. Also, these areas were mentioned throughout the survey in other areas. We have an old building but there are lots of old buildings – we just didn’t make any improvements for 15 years and now we are playing catch-up.
7
Teachers Satisfaction Level Responses:
Early Childhood (Preschool thru 1st) = 8.93 (72 responses) Elementary (2nd thru 5th) = 8.57 (115 responses) Academy (6th thru 8th) = 8.08 (109 responses) Responses: “St. Regis teachers are amazing and do a wonderful job educating our children. They are dedicated to helping our children.” “Like student/teacher ratio and they really seem to care.” “Seems to be a lot of teachers who are at St. Regis because they have students at the school, not because they are always the best possible candidate.” Multiple uses of the words dedicated, committed and hard working teachers. Parent/Teacher comment can be looked at as those teachers having a vested interest in making it the best school. Also, have pride in the school and want their children to be apart of this learning.
8
Community Satisfaction Level = 8.38 (202 responses) Responses:
“Wonderful community of families.” “I think especially the younger grades when you are first entering the school, St. Regis could do a better job at helping the families to fit into the school. Maybe partner seasoned parents and have them call the new parents or just more teacher communication. I have heard from others and felt the same way that it ‘took a while’ to feel like they knew what was going on at the school and figure out simple things like car lines, Friday folder, Wednesday s and social events.” “A Catholic school has the opportunity to offer a better community feel than a big public school.” More than 1 response mentioning a new families program. Countless responses throughout the survey mentioning our community.
9
Administration/Leadership
Satisfaction Level = 8.26 (202 responses) Responses: “Good, strong administration is the key to a good school. We have great leadership in Denise Ball now. Without that leadership, I would be reluctant to recommend St. Regis to friends.” “Fantastic leadership and vision.” Over ½ open-ended responses commented on a strong leadership team. Mentioning Mrs. Ball by name.
10
Catholic Mission Satisfaction Level = 8.59 (202 responses) Responses:
“Faith first. You do a great job with that.” “More focus on behavior expected from a Catholic with emphasis on treating one another as we would want to be treated.” “This type of environment fosters caring, empathy and many other attributes that are hard to see in public type environments. Coupled with high academic standards, I envision my children thriving and truly being well rounded.”
11
Technology Satisfaction Level = 7.02 (202 responses) Responses:
“More technology use” “The addition of the STEM Program has added a lot of value for my kids…and the integration of technology in the classroom helps prepare students for the future while still maintaining a solid academic base.” Out of 8 open-ended responses 5 suggest the need for MORE!
12
Other Responses: “Arts”
“It would be great if the students have more access to specials…like PE 2-3x per week, Spanish 2-3x per week. Also more access to STEM programs and a science lab dedicated to the elementary grades.”
