Most of this week will be learning and practicing routines and procedures so that we can maximize our learning times in the future!
Reading:
Students will learn as they grow as readers. They get to choose not only what they are going to read but also how they are going to read. (Songlike, creepy voice, like a news reporter, etc.)
Read Aloud Books:
There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, Book, Desk!
Katie Woo Has The Flu by Fran Manushkin
Math:
We use the Engage NY Math Module for Second Grade. You may go online for information about any lesson. . We are starting with Module 8 Time, Shapes, and Fractions as Equal Parts of Shapes. Our first few lessons we will be describing 2-dimentional shapes by attributes.
Writing:
Most of this week and next week will be focused on the procedures for writers workshop. We are starting with narrative writing. Studying mentor texts: Owl Moon by J. Yolen & The Leaving Morning by A. Johnson
Science/Social Studies:
Getting to know each other, school rules & the diversity of Life
Phonics (Fundations):
Reviewing consonant & vowel sounds & alphabetizing
Homework

Parents/Guardians/Students come to Open House from 5:00-6:30 (Bring your supplies)
Students remember to fill and bring your All About Me Bag to share Thursday with the class!
Thursday:
Parents/Guardians-fill out paperwork and return asap.
Students-Read for 10 minutes & bring your All About Me Bag to share if you forgot yesterday!
Friday:
Students-Read, read, read!
