Who Do You Trust? Looking Ahead
1 Corinthians 3:18-23
2
1 Corinthians 3:18-23 [18] Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. [19] For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness,” [20] and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.” [21] So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, [22] whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, [23] and you are Christ's, and Christ is God's.

Becoming Fools 1 Cor 1:27 “But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise;” 1 Cor 1:23 “we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles,” How to look like a “Fool:” John 6:68 “You have the words of Eternal Life.” John 5:24 “whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life.”

Who are the wise? Romans 1:21-22 [21] For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. [22] Claiming to be wise, they became fools, Romans 12:16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.

Who are the wise? Eph 5:1-2, Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God [15] Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, [16] making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.

Trusting, or Who do you Trust?
The Problem: 1 Cor 3:1-4 [1] But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. [2] I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready, [3] for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way? [4] For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not being merely human?

Trusting, or Who do you Trust?
Jer 9: [23] Thus says the LORD: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, [24] but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD.”
