In the third semester the student can expand the knowledge, skills and competencies gained so far while assisting in ongoing research projects. In this context the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Leer offers the profile „Sustainable Maritime Operations“. Hydraulic Systems 10 ECTS Marine Operations in the Ocean Space 10 ECTS Ship Operation- and Maintenance Systems 10 ECTS Environmental conditions Subsea production systems Remotely Operated Vehicles and relevant operations Diving and diving operations Surface support vessels and their role in subsea operations Safety and reliability of subsea systems and operations Practical simulator demonstration Student excursion Advanced hydrodynamics, incl. vessel motions in waves (RAO) Environmental criteria for operations, incl. defining weather window Station keeping, incl. dynamic positioning , anchoring and mooring analysis Relevant case studies; marine seismic operations, anchor handling, towing, lifting, etc. General ship operation and maintenance, incl. maintenance strategies and methods Reliability and availability of systems (MTBF etc.) Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Condition monitoring Computer based systems for maintenance management and spare part control

English B2 level, given upon „Allgemeine Hochschulreife“ (high school graduation) Academic degree of at least 180 ECTS Selection by common Selection committee Ranking by grades Equal ranking – decision possible by motivation letter
