Get out your notes from last week and add to them! The essential question for this section is… How does bureaucracy assist and/or impede the democratic process?

5 Bureaucracy the many departments, agencies, boards, commissions, corporations, organizations and advisory committees of the executive branch The bureaucracy helps the executive branch carry out the laws and day-to-day functions of the government in order to maintain order and safety of all citizens.

Find the person that matches you! If you have a department name, find the description. If you have a description, find the department name.

Stand with the person who has the corresponding description or department name. We will be going around and reading what’s on the strips of paper. If the description does not match the department, then, as a class, we will find the proper match.

10 BCR Practice Read the prompt below and answer the question in the form of a BCR! Even though they are part of the executive branch, bureaucrats are often allowed to actually help determine public policy. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of the above statement. Should the bureaucracy be able to determine policies affecting the entire nation? Explain. Include details and examples to support your answer.

11 Homework Revise and write a summary for any of the notes we did in the last couple weeks! I will be checking them tomorrow! You will need them for what we’re doing tomorrow!
