What is the East Midlands Diabetes Prevention Week?
It is a week which has been set to help raise awareness of Type 2 diabetes. The condition is mainly linked to obesity and poor lifestyle. People who are at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes can be referred onto the Healthier You: East Midlands Diabetes Prevention Programme. Say #no2diabetes

Find out your risk of developing
Type 2 diabetes A questionnaire has been created to help find out if you are at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes over the next 10 years. It only takes a few minutes and could be the most important thing you do today. The three key measurements you will need before you start: Height Weight Waist Ask your GP or search for Diabetes Risk Score online

Get tested in your county
The diabetes charity Silver Star are sending out mobile diabetes units to places around the East Midlands. On site they will test you to see what your chances are of developing Type 2 diabetes. If you are at risk you will be referred directly onto the Healthier You: East Midlands Diabetes Prevention Programme. They will be at: Awaiting confirmed schedule Say #no2diabetes

What are the complications of
Type 2 diabetes? Long and short-term complications can impact on a wide variety of parts of the body in those people with Type 2 diabetes, including eyes, heart, kidneys, nerves and feet. The most common complications of Type 2 diabetes include: Heart disease. Stroke. Kidney disease. Blindness. Nerve damage which can lead to limb amputation. Say #no2diabetes
