1 Monday, March 27th Entry Task Describe what you know about Earth’s atmosphere. Schedule: Atmosphere unit pre-test Objective: I can demonstrate my background knowledge of Earth’s atmosphere Homework: Read pages 505 to 510 Please have on your desk: ISN

2 To Do Today Take Atmosphere pre-test
Complete Hydrosphere progress chart Start working on your Atmosphere Unit Introduction Page on ISN 49. Look through Chapters to get ideas. Must have pictures and a title for credit and must be colored.

3 Tuesday, March 28th Entry Task Based on your Big Ideas and Key Concepts that you wrote down yesterday, describe what you will be learning in the Atmosphere unit. Schedule: 15.1 Earth’s atmosphere supports life Objective: I can explain what the atmosphere is made of and how it supports life Homework: 15.1 questions Please have on desk: ISN open to title page and progress chart

4 Wednesday, March 29th Entry Task Explain why water vapor isn’t included in the chart on page 507. Schedule: 15.2 Energy transfer in the atmosphere Objective: I will explain how the atomosphere moves energy around Homework Complete and color story time (ISN 54) Please have on desk: ISN open to 15.1 notes & questions

5 Story Time-After you read 15.1
On ISN 54 Create a story where you are the main character and you are heat energy. Focus on your journey as Heat (energy) as you travel to Earth and move around Earth. Use the following terms and talk about the following things Terms: radiation, conduction and convection The sun as the source of energy, how the molecules are moving, the space between molecules, warm air, cold air, density differences Include in your story how you (heat energy) make hot air balloons fly

6 Thursday, March 30th Entry Task Where does the energy from sunlight go? Schedule: 15.2 Layers in the atmosphere Objective: I will describe the layers of the atmosphere Homework: 15.2 questions Please have on desk: ISN open to heat transfer page and story time

7 Layers of the atmosphere foldable
Each flap will represent one of the following layers Thermosphere Mesosphere Stratosphere Troposphere For each layer: Give a written example of its characteristics (temperature, how far up, what it consists of, etc) Draw a picture of all the layers of the atmosphere and label where that layer is in relation to the others.

8 Friday, March 31st Entry Task Where is the troposphere and how is it heated? Schedule: 15.3 Gases in the atmosphere absorb radiation Objective: I can explain how the greenhouse effect keeps Earth warm. Homework None, if work finished in class (ISN 58 & 59) Please have on desk: ISN open to layers and 15.2 questions
