3 NGN-SIDE NGN-SIDE is paving the way for healthy eco-system in the converged service environment. The NGN service integration and delivery environment provides an open environment in NGN, with the integration of resources from different domains and delivery of integrated services to applications over NGN. NOTE: domains include Telecom domain (e.g. Fixed and Mobile Networks), Internet domain, Broadcasting domain and Content Provider domain.

4 NGN-SIDE eco-system NGN-SIDE aims to support a healthy ecosystem for all the stakeholders in the value chain.

6 Adaptation concept in NGN-SIDE
In NGN-SIDE, adaptation consists of a) resource brokering, and b) adaptors functions as follows: Resource brokering function: performs interaction between applications and resources for the downward invocation of resources; handles triggering of events from resources in NGN or Non-NGN towards applications; coordinates with NGN-SIDE policy enforcement for implementation of resource related policies. Adaptor function: Provides exposure of resources from various domains to be accessible by applications; performs control and media plane adaptation (protocol conversion) to shield the complexities of underlying protocols and keep a horizontal service integration architecture.

8 Adaptors The NGN-SIDE is aimed to abstract network capabilities, service enablers, applications (as resources), content by using a standardized description mechanism, i.e. common message structure, common media format, unique mapping scheme between resources and common message structure. The NGN-SIDE is aimed to abstract connectivity, computing and storage resources by using virtualization technology to support privacy/security, scalability and reliability cost-effectively and offers virtualized resources on demand.

9 NGN-SIDE interfaces NGN-SIDE interfaces extend NGN [ITU-T Y.2012] interfaces i.e. ANI, UNI, SNI, and NNI for its interaction with NGN-SIDE users and NGN-SIDE resource providers. NGN-SIDE interfaces can be categorized as follows: NGN-SIDE resource interfaces NGN-SIDE service interfaces

Resolution of major issues including: Clarification of NGN-SIDE business model in terms of roles (NGN-SIDE users, NGN-SIDE provider and NGN-SIDE resource providers) and actors (NGN provider, Application provider, Content provider, Integration provider etc.) Restructuring and clarification of NGN-SIDE general requirements; Alignment of description between framework (clause 7) and the corresponding capability descriptions (clause 9);

Enhancements to the overall concept of adaptation in terms of common resource adaptation, NGN specific resource adaptation, Non-NGN specific adaptation; Renaming of some capabilities for clarification purposes, such as resource brokering, resource registry, resource repository, access control, design tools; Clarification of functions associated with some capabilities (e.g. restrictions to in-house applications)

Splitting of NGN-SIDE interfaces as NGN-SIDE service interfaces (extending [ITU-T Y.2012] interfaces (ANI, SNI, UNI,NNI)) and NGN-SIDE resource interfaces; Enhancements to interface requirements Update of relationship between Y.2234 (OSE-Req) and Y.NGN-SIDE-Req in Annex A; General review and resolutions related to Appendices (Appendix I to Appendix VI).

14 NGN-SIDE Architecture
NGN-SIDE-Arch was setup in Q5/SG13 in ITU-T NGN-GSI Sept meeting to study the following architectural aspects: functional architecture for NGN-SIDE, functional entities in NGN-SIDE, reference points between FEs, interworking with other NGN functional entities, interworking with other networks including NGN & non-NGN relevant APIs adoption.
