Women’s Strike Protest at the capital Nicholas II resigns Provisional government Led by Aleksandr Kerensky Decides to remain in WWI -”March” according to Gregorian calendar (the new one, what we use) -”February” according to Julian calendar (the old one, what RUS used until 1918)

Rebels Emerge Soviets: representatives of the lower class Socialist and radical One group: Bolsheviks Led by Vladimir Lenin Three goals: End War Re-divide Land End Capitalism A.K.A. Communists Lenin seizes power Treaty of Brest-Litovsk Ends role in WWI NOT 100% popular -treaty bad in that Russia gives up land, but good (for Lenin) in that he has power

Part II: The November Revolution (1917)
Civil War: Reds vs. Whites Reds = Communists Whites = Non-communists Winner: Communists Better military Led by Leon Trotsky Common goal Red Terror: secret police Communism in power in Russia -”November” according to Gregorian calendar (the new one, what we use) -”October” according to Julian calendar (the old one, what RUS used until 1918) -note U.S.S.R. officially begins 1922
