Sketch the graph/ Write the equation YoungMath Presents
Interpreting Graphs ---With Mrs. Young Sketch the graph/ Write the equation
2
Explore with TI-Nspire Graphing Calculator
You will be able to: Given a function, sketch the graph of the related line Given a graph of a line, write the related algebraic equation in slope-intercept form.
3
parent function: f(x) = x
Interpreting Graphs Linear graphs: parent function: f(x) = x Y intercept at origin (0,0) Positive slope rises from left to right Constant rate of change (slope) of 1 Closer to vertical slope increases(ie greater than 1) Closer to horizontal approaches 0 (ie less than 1, and greater than 0) Negative slope falls from left to right

parent function: f(x) = x
Interpreting Graphs Linear graphs: parent function: f(x) = x Y intercept at origin (0,0) Add positive constant represents a shift up on the y-axis Add a negative constant (subtraction) represents a shift down on the y-axis Constant term is always the y-intercept (where lines crosses the y-axis)
