1 Haverford Middle School PSSA Operational Test
2016

2 Why DO we TAKE the PSSA? The PSSA is a mandatory annual assessment that measures your ability to master specific academic skills. PSSA scores can be used to determine how much growth you have made in a given school year and/or over a period of several years. PSSA scores are used to evaluate how well our school is performing. PSSA scores are not used for your report card.

3 PSSA Schedule English Language Arts Math Science April 27th-28th
6th, 7th, and 8th grade 4 assessments One assessment per day April 12th-15th Math 3 assessments April 19th-21st Science 8th grade only 2 assessments April 27th-28th

4 Calculators Calculators are not required for the PSSA, but we believe that they are a valuable tool for some sections of the math assessment. Please bring in a calculator that can add, subtract, multiply, divide, and be able to compute the square root. Please bring your calculator to school in a zipper- style plastic bag with a completed calculator identification sheet during the week of April 4th.

5 WE Expect you to… Attend school and arrive on-time.
Work hard and do your best on every assessment. Review and follow the Code of Conduct for Test Takers. Bring a book to read when you are done testing. Store ALL electronic devices (cell phone, Kindle, iPad, iWatch, etc.) in your locker. Turn off or silence all electronic devices before placing them in your locker.

6 Please be aware that… A copy of the Code of Conduct for Test Takers, Pennsylvania Calculator Policy, and parent letter regarding electronic devices will be provided and reviewed with you. Electronic devices (cell phone, kindle, iPad, iWatch etc.) are NOT permitted in the classroom. All electronic devices must remain in your locker. Possessing an electronic device in class during PSSA testing would be a violation of the Code of Conduct for Test Takers. Any violations of the Code of Conduct for Test Takers will be referred to an administrator and consequences will be assigned.

7 Thank You! We know you have worked hard this school year.
We know you are excited that you will be able to show what you know. We know that you are prepared for the PSSAs. We know that you will do well. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation and effort.
