2 A verb agrees with its subject in NUMBER
A verb agrees with its subject in NUMBER. If the subject is singular, the verb must be singular. If the subject is plural, the verb must be plural.

3 Add S or ES to the present-tense verb when the subject is a singular noun or he, she, or it
The winner RUSHES by us. He APPEARS to be happy.

4 Morris and Cora SEEM excited.
Do not add S or ES to the present-tense verb when the subject is a plural noun or I, you, we, or they Morris and Cora SEEM excited. They RUSH into the room.

5 Read the sentence and decide which verb agrees with the subject.
Jo (check, checks) the score. My friends (watch, watches) the spelling bee. Bonnie (spell, spells) the first word. She (miss, misses) the next word. We (pass, passes) the next hour in that room. The judge (award, awards) the prize.

6 I can make my subject agree with my verb.
Verbs A verb agrees with the subject in number. If the subject is singular then the verb must be SINGULAR if the subject is plural then the verb must be PLURAL.

7 I can convert between past and present tense verbs.
Read the sentences below. Circle the correct verb form to make it agree with the subject. 1. Bill (enters, enter) the spelling bee. 2. We (wish, wishes) him well. 3. He (tell, tells) us his plan. 4. He (study, studies) the dictionary every night. 5. Janet and I (spell, spells) well, too.
