SB Questions One of the question areas for the review is technology. Questions are: What are the key technologies in your area where the UK is world leading and how do they generate benefit for the UK? How could STFC support the development of critical technologies that will be essential to support the field in the future? 26th-27th July 2016 C. Shepherd-Themistocleous, RAL

Technology Funding Current mechanisms are through PRD grants of 2 years or PPRP reviewed project grants for specific experiments. Issue longer term support for particular technological developments. e.g. example today is CMOS sensors. Question: Is it desirable to have an alternative mechanism for funding such activities? Caveat: There is no more money. Flat cash is what we have in the near term. Purpose of discussion session today. 26th-27th July 2016 C. Shepherd-Themistocleous, RAL
