2 Dual Enrollment Requirements
Complete the Walters State application process: application (online option), Immunization History (proof of 2 shots for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Chicken Pox), Grant of Permission/ASL (Advanced Studies Letter), ACT scores/HS transcript Be a Tennessee resident Copy of Tennessee Driver’s License or Tennessee State ID card Attend a Sevier County high school Have junior or senior year status at the high school Have a “B” average or a numerical average of “88” or Have an ACT composite score of 21; sub-score of 18 (SAT ) in English, and 19 in math and reading in order to take classes in English, mathematics or Western Civilization history, respectively (Contact the guidance office for test dates) Completion of high school Algebra II is required to register for college mathematics courses in addition to the minimum ACT score of 19

3 Dual Enrollment Class Participation Benefits
Earn academic credit toward high school graduation and a college degree concurrently Reduce college hours required for an associate’s degree prior to completion of high school Receive instruction at an advanced (college) level

4 Tennessee Dual Enrollment Grant Requirements
Be a high school junior or senior Be a Tennessee resident one (1) year prior to application Submit a completed Tennessee Dual Enrollment Grant application each academic term designating Walters State as the college of choice Have a GPA of 3.0 or ACT composite score of 21 Meet the September 15 fall application deadline, the February 1 deadline for spring and May 1 deadline for summer Apply online at

5 Dual Enrollment Grant Benefits
$500 for course one (1) $500 for course two (2) $200 for course three (3) $200 contribution from SCBOE (Sevier County Board of Education) $100 contribution from SCEDC (Sevier County Economic Development Council) $0 for course four (4) $250 contribution from SCBOE $250 contribution from SCEDC Maximum grant allowance for high school is $1200

6 Dual Enrollment Grant Retention Requirements
Must attain a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 after completion of the first class and all other postsecondary classes attempted while participating in the Dual Enrollment Grant program.

7 Commitment Attendance requirements are stringent
School calendars are not always the same i.e. Spring Break School Closing…must listen for Sevier County School system as well as WSCC These are college level classes and the student will be held responsible for college level work Meet all deadlines

9 Dual Enrollment College Program
Start taking appropriate classes the students’ freshman and sophomore year Start WSCC classes as a junior Earn an Associate’s degree in conjunction with earning high school diploma as long as all curriculum requirements are met

10 What classes to take Each student is considered individually
College and Career choice is considered Major/Course of Study is considered WSCC Curriculum and the 4 year institution curriculum will be compared for transferability

12 COST Depends on what courses the students take
Receive a maximum $1000 Dual Enrollment Grant for the first two classes for semester one. Receive $200 for course three in a second semester with a GPA; $1200 maximum allowance for high school Employee waivers for Tennessee teachers or employees of the State of Tennessee, the University of Tennessee or the Tennessee Board of Regents
