Russian Meals Dinner & Nighttime Snack Lindsey Dorenkott

2 Uzhin Dinner Begins at 6 p.m. Usually has four courses
First course: Zakuski (appetizer) Bread and cheese or herb butter Main course Meats Soup Vegetables or Potatoes Dessert Ice cream or cheesecake

3 Nighttime Snack Starts at 9 or 10 p.m. and sometimes lasts until midnight Centered on the “samovar,,” which is an ornate urn used for serving coffee or tea Along with tea or coffee, cakes are eaten, such as “Sharlotka” (apple cake) At restaurants, the meal is often ended with frosted cranberries, or “Klyukva S Sakharom”
