2 Participle A participle is a verb looking word that is used as an adjective. Present participles – end in –ing Bowling Past participles – end in –d or –ed. Others are irregularly formed destroyed Present perfect participles – adds the word having or having been to the past participle have been destroyed

3 The melted candles made a big mess on the kitchen table.
Examples The melted candles made a big mess on the kitchen table. Raised eyebrows can mean disapproval.

4 Par Participial phrase
A participial phrase consists of a participle and its modifiers and complements. The entire phrase is used as an adjective. Frowning discreetly, the girl glared at her friends. Phillip, giggling wildly, could not answer. Sitting in his office, the president of the company called his attorney. Par

5 More examples Early films were still pictures projected on a wall. Food sealed in cans was given to the campers. Pork and beans canned in tomato sauce is my favorite.
