2

1. A perspective of faith as sacrifice – Acts 14 2. A reputation of devotion – Acts 16:1,2 3. A zealousness to say “yes” to God – v. 3a 4. A willingness to suffer for ministry sake - v. 4 5. A servant who values the Word and delivers it with boldness – v. 5,6 Key Point: As your grow in your faithfulness to the mission then we grow more ready for a specific vision
3
Acts 16:6-10 Receiving a Vision
How to Understand & Respond to the Vision that God Gives Us.
4
What is a vision? Vision in scripture usually refers to a supernatural visual and/or audible experience directed at a person/people that affects the direction of God’s mission in that moment in history
5
Vision in our Dispensation?
The word “vision(s)” appear only once between Acts and Revelation. As NT believers, we often use the term vision more loosely to describe, not a visual or audible revelation but God’s clarity concerning direction in God’s mission.
6
A faithful believer (Fit for the Vision) is ready to respond to whatever vision God gives them a heart to see
7
Submitted to Obey the Call
6 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, 7 After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. 8 And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas.
8
In a season of spiritual clarity Paul and his team are still obedient to the mission.
Key Point: We cannot expect God to give us a vision on the mountain if we are unable to steward the mission in the valleys.
9
Question #1 When you encounter spiritual hardship, do you allow that to inhibit your calling?
A season of spiritual hardship should never distract us from our primary function of evangelizing and discipling.
10
Submitted to the Spirit’s Restraint
Paul and His team hear God say “no” to their plans and rather than rebel, they submit. 1 Peter 1: 5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 6. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
11
Key Point: Don’t get ahead of God because it will frustrate God’s grace in your life and actually hinder genuine spiritual development.
12
Question #2 Is there a “desire” that you have that exalts itself over God’s vision?
Do not confuse your good strategies, plans, goals or desires that God has repeatedly said “no” t0 with the vision.
13
The Nature of the Vision
9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.
14
The Nature of the Vision
9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. Key Point: A vision “in the night” is a vision given for the sake of those lost in the darkness. It should be the only type of vision we have.
15
The Nature of the Vision
9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. Key Point: There is no vision that doesn’t meet a need.
16
The Nature of the Vision
Key Point: - If you don’t “see” the need, then that vision isn’t yours. - If your leaders don’t “see” the need, then that vision isn’t yours. - If the Word doesn’t confirm the need, then the vision isn’t yours
17
Question #3 What “need” has God revealed to you?
What specific need has God burdened your heart with so that if you didn’t do it you would be grieving the Spirit?
18
The Right Response to Vision
10 And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them. Psalm 119:60 I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.
19
His Vision, But Their Endeavour
10 And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them. Key Point: When God reveals a need to the spiritual authorities in your life, you need to be willing to submit to that vision.
20
Question #4 Have and will you own the vision for CAYA?
As God reveals need, are we willing to respond with a servants heart with the goal to bring God glory.

Conclusion: Mat.13:44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
