5. OPTIMISER AND PROTECTION
OPTIMIZER
Smoothing cuticle
Special oils form a temporary film and improve combabilty. Conditioning oils attach to the hair to smooth the cuticle surface and create a heat protective film.

7. STRAIGHT N SHINE TEST STRAND:
Examine the hair and perform a preliminary strand test by taking a section of hair (1 cm x1cm) on the crown and performing the Straight ‘n Shine service if breakage occurs, or rapid de-colorization do not proceed with this service.
EXPECTATIONS MAINTENANCE
Explain what the client can expect and how long the service will take… permanency
Explain the special home care needs and how to look after straight hair
Advise the client on after care - and hair maintenance (regrowth)
Caution:Straight ‘n Shine is not recommended to use for the following:
Allergic reaction to any perms, straighteners or other products
Hennas or metallic color. Afro/Caribbean hair types

8. STRAIGHT N SHINE After performing a consultation
Check scalp and hair condition
Perform a preliminary strand test
Shampoo hair with DEEP CLEANSING shampoo
Avoid vigorous scalp massage
DO NOT condition
Dispense 4-5 pumps of OPTIMIZER on hair to make it easier to detangle
Concentrate on porous, fragile hair
Gently dry hair
Leave hair %-80% dry
Do not tangle hair
Apply Straight ‘n Shine PROTECTION to porous, fine or highlighted hair

9. SECTIONING SECTIONING
Section the hair in to 6-8 crescent sections: Forehead to nape, mid ear to mid ear and then temple to temple.
Use plastic clips without teeth, do not use metal clips.

11. STRAIGHT N SHINE - APPLICATION
APPLICATION AGENT 1 R/P
Wear protective gloves.
Provide client with ear protectors
Use a clean comb-brush to apply Agent 1 – ( Resistant or Porous)
At commencement of application set timer.
Using medium tension, apply agent 1, taking ½ cm thick and 5cm wide sections and work from the nape towards the top of the head.
REGROWTH
When client returns for re-growth service, apply only to natural hair first (regrowth). After approximately 70%-80% of the processing time, apply to the remaining part of the hair

13. TEST KNOT HOW TO PERFORM A TEST KNOT.
Take a thin strand of hair and remove excess product. Make a knot using your fingers (mid shaft) Tighten hair strand and release hair. If the knot remains closed the hair has been fully processed. If the knot opens the hair requires further processing

14. STEP BY STEP
RINSING: When hair has been adequately softened, rinse hair with warm water for 5-10 minutes.
Pump OPTIMIZER especially concentrating on the hair ends.
Blow-dry hair from scalp to ends gently without tangling the hair/ends.
Hair should be slightly damp after blow drying 70%-80% dry.
Beware: Hair is fragile at this stage of the Straight ‘n Shine process.

15. FLAT IRONING CERAMAGIC FLAT IRONS To be set at:
Fine/ fragile 160 degrees
Normal textures 180 degrees
After applying OPTIMIZER, take sections 1cm in thickness and 5cm wide. Start flat ironing from nape moving to the top of the head. Remember to hold the hair at a 90 degree angle from the head.

16. STRAIGHT N SHINE DO DON’T Use OPTIMIZER to protect hair
Set Flat irons at degrees
Use flat plastic clips
Use tail comb to turn ends under
Use the Goldwell S ‘n S brush for hair tension
Section while flat ironing
Hold flat irons at 90 degrees from the head
Only use the Ceramagic Flat Irons recommended by Goldwell
DON’T
Use any other product with Straight ‘n Shine
Do not twist hair when flat Ironing
Do not use metal clips and comb
Do not apply too much OPTIMIZER near roots (steam may burn)

17. A B or NEAUTRALISATION 5 – 8 minutes 15 minutes
Wearing gloves using a comb/brush apply Agent 2 (neutralizer). Working from nape to the top of the head take sections ½ cm in thickness and 5cms wide Application should take up to minutes

Colorance can be used in place of Agent 2 to neutralize and refresh your clients color. Wearing gloves mix 1 part desired Colorance shade with 2 parts Colorance Lotion. Working from nape to the top of the head take section ½ cm in thickness and 5cms wide, apply Colorance. Application should take up to10-15 minutes

18. FINISHING
TO FINISH
Rinse hair thoroughly with warm water for 3-5 minutes;
Use OPTIMIZER to blow-dry and flat iron straight for the final time.

Offer advice on how to manage and look after straight hair
Do not twist or clip hair for 3 days after Straight ‘n Shine service
Do not shampoo for 3 days after service
Do not chemically treat hair for 1 week (color/lighten)
