What is computer programming?
A way for a computer to complete a “task” A set of instructions for a computer A way to virtually create various kinds of things Okay, so what even is computer programming. Programming is a process done by programmers to tell a computer on how to do a task. Programmers do this by typing specific sentences that will interact with the computer in some way. Think of a program as a group of instructions that a programmer will input into the computer and then the computer will process the instructions and then output a result. Programmers are able to create various kinds of programs.

Why is computer programming so important
Technology is improving, which is partly thanks to computer programming. It has designed various kinds of popular websites. Endless Possibilities You are a creator. Technology is improving at a rate that is exponentially increasing every year. It is thanks to computer code that many of these new technologies have been created and it will also lead human kind to creating new technologies. It has led to designing many popular websites today like Facebook, YouTube, and many other apps and software on our smartphones There are endless possibilities to the things you can program. Cprogramming.com says it best, “When you program, you are a creator. You go from a blank file to a working program with nothing to limit but your imagination.” There are so many things you can do with computer Programming. Programming can create anything from a simple app on your phone to a complicated data analyzer.

The demand is growing - As Technology grows, the demand grows.
Companies need computer programmers. As said before technology is growing. This means the demand for computer Programmers grows as well. According to geekwire.com“The number of coding jobs is only expected to increase over time. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 913,000 computer programmer jobs in That number is expected to jump 30% from 2010 to Meanwhile, the average growth of all other U.S. jobs is predicted to be just 14%.” Just look at this graph. Although the other fields are important, the demand for them is not nearly as high as computer science fields. Companies are looking for programmers. They need someone to program a specific application for their company.

The decline of computer programming in schools
In the US that only 1 in 10 schools offer sufficient computer science classes. 2.4% of college students graduate from a computer related field. It is said by teq.com, that only 1 in 10 schools in the US offer computer science classes, and the amount of college students graduating from computer related fields is only 2.4%. I took a survey asking some students if they were interested in computer programming, and if they are enrolled

The decline of computer programming in schools
I took a survey asking some students if they were interested in computer programming, and if they are taking it this year. Of the students I surveyed only 14% are enrolled, although many of the students said they are interested in computers

The decline of computer programming in schools
Of the students at Wasatch, only 2% are taking Computer Programming. As you can see there is a major decline in the number of students learning how to code.
