Winter Driving Tips! Allow Extra Time when roads are icy and snow packed. If going on a trip, notify someone of your departure time and estimated time of arrival. Give plenty of room for vehicles in front of you, at least 3x the amount you would normally allow. Watch for black ice.

Winter Driving Tips! Keep your lights and windshield clean.
Only start driving when you have a fully cleaned windshield and lights.

Winter Driving Tips! If you are going on a long trip, check your route for weather condistions. Check for closed roads. If routes are closed, think twice about going. It might be safer to stay home. Keep an emergency kit handy. Include: Blankets, food, water, first aid kit, cell phone.

Winter Driving Tips! If you begin to skid do the following:
Take your foot off the accelerator DO NOT slam on the brakes Stay calm and steer in the direction you want to go.

Winter Driving Tips! Sometimes it is better to just stay home.
Check with your work or school for cancellations if there is snow. It is better to know BEFORE you begin your travel.

Winter Driving Tips! REMEMBER, you are not the only one on the road. Drive for your safety as well as the safety of everyone else on the road.
