1. 1S and their Fabric Faces!
As part of D&T this half-term, 1S are beginning to learn about different fabrics.

2. We have been learning to identify different fabrics and evaluate their strengths and uses.
Lace
Did you know that lace is a delicate fabric? Mrs Smith’s wedding dress was made out of lace.
Cotton
Felt
Ribbon
Velvet
Wool
Wool is soft. Some of our jumpers are made from wool. Wool must be warm.

4. We have had fun exploring what materials have been used to represent hair on different dolls. We have even manipulated materials ourselves to make them look like our hair!

5. We have also been exploring how different fabrics can be joined together in a range of ways.

7. We are now going to apply our knowledge of how to join fabrics together to complete our very own fabric faces! So far, we have drawn an outline of our faces onto a piece of fabric and cut around it.
