The term “sociology” was coined by Auguste Comte ( ) in Comte hoped to unify all the sciences under sociology. He believed that sociology had the potential to improve society and to direct human activity, including the other sciences.
However, sociology did not replace the other sciences. Rather, it has developed a particular niche in the study of social life.
