Again, it can’t tell us what to think but it can tell us what to think about. Gramsci: Anything that does not fit with the ruling class’ hegemony or ‘normality’ is segregated. Hegemony is a site of constant struggle - societies are constantly debating what is and isn't acceptable. Because they are constructed by adults, reflecting adults concerns, anxieties and needs Gauntlett: Individuals will 'pick and mix' their media and can select what they want to use in construction of own identity
