Definitions and Usage:
in-, il-, im-, OR ir-: not, without; in, into, towards, inside The impossibility of Dad, my biggest cheerleader, missing my big game told me there was something wrong. inter-: between, among James interspersed details into his paper with expertise and style, making his reader engage with information he or she never would have otherwise. intra-: inside, within Former high school athletes often participate in intramural sports within their college or university to fill the void of the competitive sport they left behind.

Extension Activity: Understanding Word Parts and Navigating a Dictionary
Use a dictionary to add one more word for each prefix to your list. Include each word’s definition and explain where you see the prefix meanings in their definitions.

Choose three words (one for each prefix) and create three separate context clue sentences. Underline the word you use and context clues you include in each sentence.
