1 PRESIDENTIAL FORM OF GOVERNMENT

2 INTRODUCTION Presidential government is that in which the executive is constitutionally independent of the legislature in respect to the duration of his or their tenure and irresponsible to it for his political policies. (Prof. Garner)

3 FEATURE OF PRESIDENTIAL GOVERNMENT
There is separation of powers in the Presidential government In the Presidential government, the President is the head of the government and the head of the state.

4 In Presidential government, President enjoys all the powers which are given to him under the constitution or the law. In the Presidential government, the President and the secretaries are not responsible to the legislature. In the Presidential government, the President is elected for a fixed tenure and except impeachment for the violation of the constitution , he cannot be removed before the expiry of his term.

5 MERITS It makes the government stable
The system is more suitable for the emergencies It leads to efficiency in the administration Less influence of parties This type of government is based on the theory of separation of powers More suitable for multiparty system

6 DEMERITS In this system President enjoys wide powers and he can have his own way Sometimes it leads to non-cooperation between the executive and the legislature In this system the government is not responsible for the daily administration to the parliament The constitution is rigid and it becomes difficult to make amendments with changing circumstances

7 CONCLUSION This form of government is more suitable for the system in which the government is more unstable and there is multiparty system.
