Purpose of the study To see if there is a negative relationship between social media and GPA

Null and Alternative hypotheses
Null- There is no relationship between students’ GPA and how often they use social media during class. Alternative- The amount of time on social media affects a student's GPA

Key Definitions Social media- computer-mediated technologies that allow the creating and sharing of information, ideas, career interests and other forms of expression. GPA- Grade Point Average

How Study was Conducted
Sent an online survey, to the Sociology students 41% male 57% female 2% transgender

Results 39.99% of students with a GPA of above 3.5 never check social media during class and % do check 38.36% of students between 2.6 and 3.0 access often while 18.18% never check social media

Conclusion The results show that social media affects students GPA; therefore, the null hypothesis is rejected.
