4. What will happen?
You will Sign-Up for your Spring Student-Led Conference by calling home in Advisory
You will take your Conference Confirmation Letter home
You will report with your Parent or “Adult Education Advocate” to OBJH at your scheduled date/time and find your Advisor

Students who do not have a parent who can attend can bring an “Adult Education Advocate” which is any other family member who is over 18 and a High School graduate.

5. What do I have to do?
You will Introduce your Family or Advocate to your Advisor
You will then begin your presentation using your Spring Student Led Conference Outline AND Career Guidance Washington Binder
Inform students of their role in the Spring Conference using the slide above. Then Hand Out the Spring Conference Outline.

6. What do I have to say?
You will present on the following Questions using the activities in your Career Guidance Washington binder.
Who Am I? (Present your Goals for )
What do I want to do in the future? (Present your Career Bridge Worksheet results and your SHS Personal Program of Study)
What are my BEST Works? (Present the three most meaningful assignments, what you learned, and why you are proud of this work.)
How am I doing? (Present your Grades)

Hand out the Spring Student Led Conference Outline.
Read this script aloud to students so they get a sense of how the first part of their conference should sound. No they don’t have to memorize this script but it can serve as an anchor for emergent presenters.
Advisors will help facilitate if the student gets off-track. Advisors will inform the parents that this is their child's presentation and should save questions/comments for the end.

7. How to Call Home and Schedule your Conference
“Hi Mom/Dad/Other. I’m calling from my Advisory class to schedule my Spring Student-Led Conference. The times available are… Which one should I sign up for? OK Thanks! I’m looking forward to you coming and meeting my teachers. See you later!”
Give students time to call home and schedule their conference. If you can, project the schedule sheet on the overhead and fill in as you go. When they schedule, fill in their time on their personalized confirmation letter and send it home with the student. Later, go ahead and enter the appointment into Skyward. (Instructions will be sent out on how to enter into Skyward.)

9. Binder Maintenance
Make sure all of your binder materials are in the right section.
Organize so that your current grade activities are toward the front of each section
Example:
8-2 goes in FRONT of 7-5

10. Best Works
Time to collect your three (3) BEST WORKS to present at your conference
Complete the “Best Works” worksheet
Explain the assignment and what you learned from it
Tell why you are especially proud of it
BE DETAILED in your explanation
Collect your Best Works and put them in your binder (Section 8)
If your work is digital, make sure it’s accessible on your Google Drive
Review the above slide with students and give them time to select, comment, and collect their BEST WORKS for their conference. This is the FOCUS of the conference.

11. Practice with a Partner
Take turns practicing the script/outline with a partner. It will be easier if you go through it a few times.
