CAWES PAST Our past …. 1981: Concerned citizens and the Status of Women Action Committee met to discuss the problem of battered women and children in our region. 1982: Non profit status 1983: CAWES opened with 16 beds Sept : Our first client at CAWES 2002: CAWES became a 36 bed facility with a Child Support Area. Commerical Kitchen, and barrier free room. 2003 The Fekete Case The Fekete Inquiry and Recommendations CAWES Outreach Program The establishment of the Domestic Violence Collaborative Court Program
