2 What is a region A region is a region is an area with common features and climate that sets it apart from other areas. The United State's regions are The Northeast, Southeast, Middle West, Southwest, and West. Going further in NJ's regions are The Atlantic Coastal Plain, Piedmont, Highlands, and Ridge and Valley.

3 The Southeast Warm all year. Is crisscrossed with rivers.
The Davis Bayou is in this region( a bayou is a marshy slow moving stream).

4 Middle west Made of the Interior Plain.
The Central Plain is in the Mid-West and Produces corn. The Great Plains has hot summers and cold winters and produces wheat.

5 Southwest The Rocky Mountains appear in this region along with the West. One of the Most famous landforms is in this region, the Grand Canyon. The Southwest is mostly made of Plateaus, plains, and deserts.

6 West The Great Basin is in the West.
The redwood trees grow in California and Oregon in the West. Landforms in this region include mountains, plateaus, and valleys.

7 The Atlantic Coastal Plain, Piedmont, Highlands, and Ridge and Valley.
New Jersey's Regions The Atlantic Coastal Plain, Piedmont, Highlands, and Ridge and Valley.

8 Atlantic Coastal Plain
We live in this region. This is the largest region and covers half of the state. The Atlantic Coastal Plain is home to the Pine lands.

9 Piedmont Has the largest population out of the four N.J region.
Located in the foothills. The palisades form The Piedmont's border. The fall line separates the Piedmont from the Atlantic Coastal Plain.

10 Highlands Most of our states lakes are in the Highlands.
The town of Franklin is located in the Highlands and known for its "glowing" rocks.

11 Ridge and valley The Ridge and valley region is home to the Delaware Water Gap and High Point Park. Dairy farming is an important business in Ridge and Valley. The Appalachian mountains are in this region.
