Take out your Essay Instructions /Gradesheet page
and your Outline to be checked. It MUST be completely FINISHED before you are allowed to start typing your essay! Also, log in to my.hrw.com (user = ID# and cs, PW=ID#) and open the stories you are using.(“A Sound of Thunder” is on my website) You will also need your pink packet so you can look for good transitions to use.

Take out your Essay and Gradesheet (that has the prompt and instructions on the other side).
Take out a piece of paper for peer editing. Write the name of your partner on the paper. Example: Jane Doe’s paper Write your name as the peer editor. Example: Peer Edited by John Smith

Circle any misspelled words
Use the Gradesheet bullets to grade your partner’s paper. Check off each bullet point they have done correctly. On the sheet of paper, write down the things they need to correct. Then, go through the paper and Circle any misspelled words Circle names and proper nouns that need to be capitalized Circle any in-text citations in incorrect format (Author’s name and page) Example: “This is the part that was quoted. No comma or period inside the quote” (Poe 372). Period goes outside quotation marks. Make sure each Concrete Detail is a quotation that begins with a transition and is embedded into a sentence so that it flows naturally.

Create the Hanging Indent
First: Select the text you want indented. You can select a single paragraph or multiple paragraphs at a time. Next: On the ruler, drag the Left Indent (light blue inverted triangle) to the right as far as you want the text to be indented. As you will notice, the First Line Indent marker (light blue rectangle) will come along for the ride, and all your selected text will move to the right. Finally: Drag the First Line Indent marker (light blue rectangle) back to the left margin. It will move independently, and your hanging indent will be created.
