Survey Pre-test Conducted Pre-Test on Sunday, March 9, 2008
Surveys conducted from 1:00 – 5:00 PM Pre-test was performed at Ruck-a-Chucky Flow in river was approximately 380 cfs Weather was clear and warm 5 5

Survey Pre-test Findings
Contacted 15 people Of these, 8 people completed surveys (53%) People who did not complete surveys included: Trail users (distance runners, equestrian users) People who just arrived All respondents asked to complete: A-1 – Background Information A-5 – Day use Along a Stream/river 2 respondents completed Form A-2 – Camping at Developed Sites All surveys were completed in under 10 minutes Responses indicated that survey instructions and questions were clear and easy to understand

Survey logs will be completed for each sampling location Surveyors will record the following information on the survey log: Site Identification Weather Conditions Site Conditions Surveyor Name Date Time Arrived at Site Time Departed Site Estimated Number of People at Site Estimated Turnover Rate Notes (e.g. access constraints, recent events that could affect use) Contact Number Contact Time Surveyed Previously (Y/N) Willingness to Participate (Y/N) Just Arrived Survey No. Male/Female (M/F) Part of Family? (Y/N) Part of Larger Group (Y/N) How may in family/group (#/#) Number of people in group 8

Proposed Revisions to Survey Protocols
Survey Administration Section A-1 will be administered at all survey locations With the exception of campgrounds, each user will be asked to complete two additional relevant sections based upon the primary activities they identify Users intercepted at campgrounds will be asked to complete all relevant sections Users that have just arrived at the survey location will be asked to complete section A-1 only Survey administration may be adjusted pending the results and/or feedback from early sampling efforts
