NY Times Columnist, David Brooks, writes in his new book about the influence of social media in creating a “Big Me” culture (where we’re constantly being praised and rewarded for celebrating ourselves all the time). Within it he argues that “we live in a culture that encourages us to be big about ourselves. The starting point of trying to build inner goodness is to be a little bit smaller about yourself.” This has led to a larger conversation about goodness and how one develops their morals.
