Most of my family arrived in Canada from the United Kingdom. 25% though, came from Germany by way of the United States.

5 There was a decrease in the number of French who came to Canada from France because the French government was opposed to emigration. They needed a large population for their large country and also to supply soldiers.

8 The biggest decreases in population percentages were in the founding cultures, except aboriginal which nearly doubled. Top 7 ethnic groups in 2001.
