Verb Patterns 2. Verb + to + infinitive
need to go Love to work decide to swim Example: -I’d like to go aboard. -They want to buy a new car.

Verb Patterns Verb + {to + infinitive} or Verb + { -ing}
start to eat/ eating Love to work/ working decide to swim/ swimming Example: -I’d like to eat / eating pizza. {no change in meaning} -It began to rain/ raining. {no change in meaning}

Meaning I like working as a teacher I am a teacher and I enjoy it. I love taking photos This is my hobbies Note: Like + doing & love + doing express a general enjoyment. 2. Would +Like + to do I would like to work as a teacher. When I grow up, I want to be a teacher. I would love to take photos. You are going to take photo. I’m pleased that you asked me. Would +Like + to do & would +love + do express a preference now or at specific time.

Question Short answer Would you like to go for a coffee? Yes, I would./ Yes, I would love to. Would you like to come for a walk? No, thank you Note: No, I wouldn't is not recommended because it is impolite.

1. Will + infinitive (without to) Positive & Negative: Subject Modal auxiliary (Will) Infinitive I ‘ll (will) won’t come. He/She/It Help you. We/You/they eat dinner.

1. Will + infinitive (without to) Uses: 1- To express a future decision made at the moment of speaking. e.g. I will give you my phone number. I will take the red, thank you. 2- To express an offer. e.g. I will carry your bag I will do the washing-up.

Uses: 1- To express a future decision made before the moment of speaking. e.g. she isn’t going to your home on Friday. I’m going to stay at Makkah for three days. 2- when we can see or feel now that something is certain to happen in the future. e.g. look at these clouds! It is going to rain.

Note: The present continuous (verb to be + -ing) can be used for plan or arrangement with the verb Go & come: e.g. she is coming to your home on Friday. I’m going home early tonight. 2- when we can see or feel now that something is certain to happen in the future. e.g. look at these clouds! It is going to rain.

Will or Going to ? 1- I’m going to make a chicken sandwich for dinner. 2- What shall I cook for dinner? I will make a chicken sandwich! That’s a good idea! I decided this morning and bought everything for it. I decided at the moment of speaking.
