5 Donation for land purchase
A community resident donated $9k to purchase the section of land to complete the reserve.

6 Community Support WDC Long Term Plan – submission process
104 submissions support the project in principle Of which 58 support the Project and using the allocated funding from the Kumara Endowment Fund 38 supported the project but not using all the allocated funding 8 totally against project and use of Kumara Endowment Fund

7 Controversy in the Community
A few local community members object to using allocated Kumara Endowment Funding for this project KRT has actively provided the community & Council with the correct information KRT has held public presentation for community to give correct information re Fund process Attend several Westland District Council meetings Put presentation on Kumara website so access to all

8 Westland District Council’s recommendation confirmed
$398k allocated Being $298k for construction costs And $100k for long term maintenance (stays in the Fund long term)

9 Land for Reserve Transferred to Westland District Council

10 Chinese Miners Memorial Reserve created
Local Purpose Reserve managed under the Reserves Act 1977. Owned by Westland District Council, and managed by Kumara Residents Trust KRT will request to be formally appointed to control and manage the Reserve under the Reserve Act 1977
