Science Living things and their habitats. Describe how living things are classified into broad groups according to common observable characteristics and based on similarities and differences, including micro-organisms, plants and animals. Grammar and punctuation Use passive verbs to affect presentation of information in a sentence. Using the perfect form of verbs to mark relationships of time and cause. Expanded noun phrases to convey complicated information concisely. Using modal verbs or adverbs to indicate degrees of possibility. Use relative clauses. Using commas, brackets and hyphens. Using semi colons, colons or dashes to mark boundaries between independent clauses. Maths- Maths Round any whole number to a required degree of accuracy. Use negative numbers in context, and calculate intervals across zero. Solve number and practical problems involving number and place value. Measurement and Geometry Solve problems involving calculation and conversion of units of measure, using decimal notation up to 3 d.p. Use, read, write and convert between standard units, converting measurements of length, mass, volume and time. Draw 2-d shapes using given dimensions and angles. Recognise, describe and build simple 3-d shapes, incl. making nets. Compare and classify geometric shapes based on properties and sizes and find unknown angles in triangles, quadrilaterals and regular polygons. Recognise angles where they meet at a point, are on a straight line, or are vertically opposite, and find missing angles. Greek daily life – what did they do? What do we still do today? What foods do we still eat? Arts and Architecture – Discuss Greek entertainment and how it is still done today (Theatre). Discuss architecture – who did it inspire? Do we still see these elements in buildings today? Games/Olympics/Gymnastics – what did the Greeks do that we do today? Democracy – What is it? Why was it important to the Greeks? Why is it important now? Referendum - Children will choose something that could be done as the final product that demonstrates an understanding of how the Ancient Greeks have impacted life today. They will build an argument as to why it should be done. A referendum day will be held and the children will be given the chance to debate/vote. Final Product Art/DT To use research and develop design criteria to inform the design of innovative, functional, appealing products that are fit for purpose, aimed at particular individuals or groups. To generate, develop, model and communicate their ideas through discussion, annotated sketches. select from and use a wider range of materials and components, including textiles according to their functional properties and aesthetic qualities. Evaluate their ideas and products against their own design criteria. RE Beliefs and meaning Christianity Music To learn to play and perform in solo and ensemble contexts, using their voices and playing musical instruments with increasing accuracy, fluency, control and expression. Improvise and compose music for a range of purposes. Use and understand staff and other musical notations. French Speak in sentences, using familiar vocabulary, phrases and basic language structures. Write phrases from memory PE Games Use running, jumping, throwing and catching in isolation and in combination. Play competitive games and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending. Dance Perform dances using a range of movement patterns. Compare performances and demonstrate improvements.
