Title of the Research Study John Doe, Ed.D.
Introduction Methods Results Conclusions The Argosy University poster template is set up to produce a 48” x 36” (4x3’) horizontal poster. Type or cut and paste your information into the boxes, which will automatically fit the text you enter. Please use black font no less than 32 point for narrative, and no less than 24 points for your references or notes under a table. This template uses Arial 115 Bold for the title, Arial 80 for the author’s name and Primary Headings (Introduction, Methods, Results, Conclusions), and Arial Narrow 40 for subtitles, and Arial Narrow 32 for the text body. You may change the font style, color, or size, but it is best to use Arial or Times New Roman fonts to ensure the printing company has it available. Arial font is more legible for large print. All information should be legible from 6-feet, including labels on tables and figures. It is not advisable to put shadows on smaller text. When cutting and pasting text from documents into your poster, the text will maintain its original formatting. You will need to resize the text and change the font to keep it all consistent in your poster content. You can change the size, color, etc. in home >font. If you click on the text box, you can use the handles to stretch or squeeze the text boxes to the desired size. If you need just a little more room for your type, change the line spacing to a multiple of .90 or .85 in home >paragraph >line spacing. The dotted lines through the center of the piece will not print, they are for alignment. You can move them around by clicking and holding them, and the little box will tell you where they are on the page. Use them to get your pictures or text boxes aligned together. You can add a guideline by holding the control key down as you move one. It can also help to turn on Snap to Guides by right clicking the background and going to Grid and Guides. That will make images and text boxes “magnetically” snap to the guidelines. Try to keep your word count as low as possible to maximize the chance that viewers will actually read your poster: shoot for 800 words or less. How to bring things in from Excel® Select the table then copy (ctl+C), and paste (ctl+V) into PowerPoint®. The table can then be stretched to fit or edited as required. Press the SHIFT key to scale proportionally. The surrounding lines may be kept or changed in size, type or color. They can be deleted by selecting “no line” in the “format” colors and lines menu. If you intend to fill the boxes with a color, make it light so that the dark colored text is not overpowered. The size, color and shape of figure and photo boxes can be changed. Click to select the box and then drag to reposition. Once the boxes are selected, they can be resized and reshaped by clicking and dragging the selection handles. Click to select the box and then drag to reposition. Photos Pictures within boxes will be distorted when resizing unless they are resized from the corner selection points while holding the shift key down. It is important to start with the best image you have and avoid low resolution images taken from the web. Preview To see your in poster in actual size, go to view-zoom-100%. It’s important to walk through your poster viewing it at full size to be sure it’s going to look OK. Proof your work and have others proof it as well. It is hard to recognize your own mistakes. Saving When saving your PowerPoint, save with embedded fonts. From the menu bar choose Tools / Options / Save. Check the box “Embed TrueType Fonts” and select the button “Embed All Fonts Best For Editing By Others.” When saving as PDF, be sure to save at high quality setting (print or press resolution option), embed all fonts. Printing You are responsible for your own printing costs. This allows you to retain and reuse your poster at other conferences or events. A good source for printing in terms of quality, service, and price is PosterPresentations.com. Look for the Argosy University Post Doctoral Symposium page on this website, which includes information about the event, our template, and printing options. A 48” x 36” poster printed from our template is approximately $45 from this source. The website has many helpful instructions for preparing your poster and a toll-free customer care line Shipping Shipping is free from this site if you submit by the deadline. You can also choose expedited shipping options. Please have the poster shipped to you and bring it with you to the symposium. We will provide foam board, clips, and easel for your display. 75 100 125 150 175 Number of Cases Peak CPX HR MTWA HR ≥105 10 15 5 69% 18% 74% 26% Pre- Intervention Post- Images should be 85 to 100 dpi in their final printed size to avoid pixelation. A rough rule of thumb is that a 500 kb jpg (2 megapixel) image file can go up to 12x16” on your poster. Use insert >from file to import them. See Table 1. For best results do not copy and paste images. When assembling your poster from other existing images use INSERT>PICTURE>FROM FILE. Figure 1. Example of Inserted Figures. Watch out for scientific symbols used in imported tables, which PowerPoint may print improperly if the printing company doesn’t have the font installed on their system. It is best to use the Symbol font for scientific characters. Tables that come in oddly can often be fixed by paste >special >enhanced metafile.
